About us

Why we started Wealth Wise Woman

Founded by Funmi and Berna, community leaders after the success of a social action project in Tower Hamlets, Wealth Wise Woman was born from a simple but urgent mission: to close the financial literacy gap for women, youth, and underrepresented communities. The loss of a loved one and personal experiences of financial vulnerability sparked our commitment to making financial knowledge accessible, relatable, and empowering.

Mission Statement

To empower women, youth, and underrepresented communities to take control of their financial futures through education, mentorship, and community support.

Wealth Wise Woman

Vision Statement

Educate | Inspire | Empwer

A world where financial independence is a reality for every woman and young person, regardless of background.

Alongside another female leader, after seeing the incredible impact of our social action project in Tower Hamlets, we decided to formalise our mission as Wealth Wise Woman C.I.C.

We now run workshops, mentoring circles, and events that make money conversations easy and empowering. Our focus is women and young people, especially from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and underrepresented communities ; but our doors are open to all who want to build confidence with money.

This isn’t just about numbers. It’s about claiming your control, healing the fear around money, and building futures that outlive us.

Funmi

Hello, I’m Funmi — a mum of two, one with additional needs — turned founder. My journey into financial advocacy began with loss. In 2021, when I lost my cousin, I felt firsthand how fragile our security is without financial knowledge. That grief ignited a fire in me. Alongside a remarkable fellow leader — and after seeing the impact of our social action project in Tower Hamlets — we decided to formalise our mission as Wealth Wise Woman C.I.C. Today, we are that safe space. We welcome women and young people — especially from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities across Tower Hamlets and beyond — into spaces where talking about money isn’t taboo, but transformational. In our workshops, you’ll roll up your sleeves, share stories in mentoring circles, and leave equipped with tools and resources that turn budgeting, pensions and entrepreneurship from confusing jargon into real-life power moves. This isn’t just about numbers. It’s about claiming your control, healing the wounds of financial fear, and building futures rooted in resilience and abundance. Together — online, in local hubs, wherever we meet — we’ll break debt cycles, close the gender wealth gap, and craft legacies that outlive us.
